8 Tips To Refresh Your Fitness Goals
We’ve hit month three of 2017 and, lets admit it, our motivation to smash those fitness resolutions may have got a little lost along the way. Don’t worry, it happens to us all. But with Spring on the horizon and new starts in the air, it’s time to refresh our goals and stick to them for good.

Here are some top tips to make changes that last.

1) Keep them SMART – that is, specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time managed. These key principles are used across various fields to define a robust goal.

2) Only set a couple to begin with, so you can focus your time and energy on them. Too many may be overwhelming and make you give up before you’ve even started.

3) Keep the goals small at first and work up to more challenging ones – you’re changing your life after all! Plus, setting small goals means you’re more likely to succeed in the beginning, which keeps you motivated.

4) Write them down and return to them on a regular basis to evaluate your progress. I personally love using spreadsheets to satisfy my inner nerd, but a notepad or word document will do.

5) Make them public. Stick them on your wall so you see them every day and tell your friends and family so they can support your efforts. Ask them to help keep you accountable, or even to join you in achieving certain ones together. You can motivate each other.

6) Don’t feel the pressure to set aesthetic fitness goals. Try to include at least one goal which isn’t based directly on your appearance, for example training 3 days a week, drinking 2 litres of water a day or going for a morning walk. These are all positive steps towards overall health.

7) Focus on inclusion not exclusion, especially with food. Try to avoid saying you can’t have ‘bad food’ and instead just focus on including more nutrient dense ingredients. This helps to maintain a positive relationship with food.

8) And finally, stay positive. We are all human and we all struggle sometimes so don't be hard on yourself. Just keep on going. What matters most is consistency and making small sustainable changes, so don't stop now!
