When it comes to the laws of feng shui, first impressions matter. The entrance to any home is the place where good feng shui energy can flow. When a house has good energy circulating throughout, the people who live in the house experience higher levels of well-being [2]. The front entrance is also the place where important intentions for the rest of the home are set.
Here’s what to do:
1) On approaching your house, ensure the route is clear and energy is able to flow straight into your front door.
2) Add bright, vibrant colours to the entrance – including the doormat, front door and selected plants.
3) Place two large plants on either side of your front door.
Don’t forget to apply the same declutter technique inside your home too.


Not only do they make any space look beautiful, plants are also an optimum source of oxygen and purify the air around us. The positive health implications are through the roof. When Kamal Meatlle stored specific air-purifying plants (see below) in his office, he noticed that compared to other buildings there was a reduced rate of eye irritation by 52%, respiratory systems by 34%, headaches by 24%, lung repairment by 12% and asthma by 9%. From the choices below, pick two plants for every 100 square feet of interior space in your home, for optimum oxygen generation:
Areca Palm – removes C02 and converts it into oxygen. It is one of NASA’s top 10 air-purifying plants for space missions.
Mother-in-Law’s Tongue – considered a bedroom plant as it converts C02 into oxygen at nighttime.
Money Plant – removes formaldehydes and other volatile chemicals, known to cause cancer.
